'Listeroid' Lister 6/1 Indian Copy
Lister is UK maker of stationary diesel engines. The popular 6/1 model has been much copied in India and models are exported and sold in North America and elsewhere. A very common problem with these models is water seepage from the headgasket. This often disappears with some running, but not before paint has been damaged. The Indian gaskets are of an open-sided copper sandwich construction. This, combined with cylinder liner protrusion seems to be behind the leakage. At the request of several Lister owners I produced a non-asbestos metal-reinforced gasket with metal fire ring, 1.6 mm thick. These gaskets are being field-tested at the moment.
